Bruce Keidan, whose fierce wit and unflinching opinions entertained, and sometimes enraged, a generation of Pittsburgh sports readers, has died in Orlando, Fla. He was 67.

His son, Greg Keidan, said his father had been suffering from diabetes and also had a heart condition.

As sports editor, columnist and, later, a projects reporter for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Mr. Keidan's coverage of sports and his sometimes quirky management style enlivened both the pages of the paper as well as its newsroom.

In a decades-long relationship with the paper, Mr. Keidan wrote a column on sports, jousted with readers in his mailbag column and, in a later return after a hiatus, took on projects for the paper, including a lengthy investigation into the death of black motorist Jonny Gammage during a traffic stop.
